The International Sourcing Fair is a national trade fair co-organized by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and co-sponsored by the trade and economic development departments of nineteen provinces. The Fair was started in 2002.

The 2008 International Sourcing Fair will be held 22-25
September at the Shanghaimart, in central Shanghai,
where it will occupy three levels of exhibition space for
a total of 20,000 square meters. The show floor will be
divided into Consumer Goods Area, Industrial Products
Area, Chinese Sourcing Area, U.N. Sourcing Area,
Supplier Chain Service Providers Area and Quality
Product Display Area.

Well-known manufacturers who exhibit and source
at the fair include BP, Siemens, Bosch, Alcoa,
NEC, Toshiba, Sharp and Corning. Well-known
retailers who exhibit and source at the fair include
Wal-Mart, Metro, Tesco, Home Depot, Best Buy,
RadioShack, Decathlon, B&Q and OTTO.

In 2007, there were 450 exhibit stands from
20 countries and regions. More than 6,000
suppliers and buyers participated as visitors.
Meetings were arranged by a special matchmaker
service offered by the Fair.
